Best Netbook in the Market [CNN Money]

Media_httpi2cdnturner_dvaai
CNN Money has reviewed 5 of the most popular netbooks currently available in the market. The winner? The Eee PC 1000 HE.

I have tried it myself and I was very impressed with this little machine. The screen looks beautiful, has multi-touch touchpad, the keyboard is very confortable to type and it is one of the only models to offer the new and faster Atom N280 processor.

Check this post for a video and more information about the 1000 HE.Read the comparisson from CNN Money here.

Penzu: online private journal that emulates a paper-like experience

Media_httpwwwpenzucom_hhlhc

Penzu is a fun application that lets you create an online journal that resembles a "real" paper journal. You can add as many images as you want, share selected texts with other people and use it for a variety of reasons. Below I list the reasons why Penzu can be better than a traditional paper-bound journal (as listed on their website):

Never Lost or Stolen: Keeping your journal with Penzu means it can never be stolen or lost. You don’t have to worry about leaving your diary or journal behind, or someone stealing it from your hiding place. With Penzu your most precious memories are safe!

Access Anywhere: Have you been away from your diary and wanted to record something at that moment? Penzu is accessible from any computer in the world - take your journal with you wherever you go!

Sharing is Easy: Have you every wanted to share just one page of your diary with someone? Now you can. Share your entries via email to family and friends. If you want, you can remain anonymous and the recipient will not know it was you sending the message!

Saving is a Thing of The Past: Similar to writing on paper, as you type an entry, it saves automatically! Your thoughts are saved as you go. Have a thought that you need to get out right away? You can start writing on the pad even without being logged in! And once you log in, your entry will be saved to your account.

Filtered Search: If you find yourself constantly leafing through your journal to find a specific entry, your troubles end here. Penzu allows you to easily search your entries and then sort them by Name, Date Created, Size, Locked, or Shared. You can find past entries in seconds and even edit them if need be!

Penzu is free and you can try it here.

Increase your productivity with Google Chrome's side-by-side view

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn97WbalJwM&hl=pt-br&fs=1]

When using web applications, there are many situations where you need to go back and forth in different browser tabs to get the information you need for your Google Docs doccument or for writing your blog post, for example.

There is a feature in Google Chrome that was created to solve this problem. As you can see on the video, simply drag the tab to the side of the browser and it automatically re-sizes the windows to provide a side-by-side view. Very handy.

The feature is available on Chrome 2.0 only. If you don't use Chrome yet, download it here (Window only - as of today).

Taskbarn: free web project management and colaboration tool

Taskbarn is a free tool where you can track your projects through a clean and easy to use interface. It allows you to colaborate with co-workers and easily share progress with clients through RSS feeds. You can upload up to 100MB of files per project, and an API is avalilable for those who want to build applications on top of Taskbarn.

According to the website:

  • Update your status in "the feed" to keep stakeholders happy
  • Tired of sorting through emails? Use Taskbarn's threaded messaging system
  • Add, track, and assign tasks to project members
  • Organize all project tasks in a TODO list.
  • Communicate with project members through private messages and the project feed.
  • Share files, web links, and other assets.
  • Invite clients, colleagues, and friends to collaborate with you on your project.
  • Access your projects from anywhere with an internet connection.
  • Each project has its own unique ".taskbarn.com" address and private website.

I created an account and the setup and initial usage were really a snap. Two things I am curious about taskbarn: 1) Since it is 100% free, what is their business model? I haven't seen advertisement on the tool. Yet. 2) Apparently the service just changed its name. Look on the image above and you'll see that itwas apparently called taskfeed, which is indeed a nicer name. What might have happened?
